New for George Humphreys with Vax Trax Rails. Why the Golden Child? Well, George can do no wrong, especially in the water! The Golden Child uses the same template as his previous El Gringo Model. This template is Georges' "go-to" whether it be everyday beachies, World Tour Comps or 20 footers out the Right.

The Kinetic Core / Stringer / Mesh combo should cover all mid-warm climates and allows George to get that extra bit of life out of his boards when constantly hitting big ramps, and landing! On this model, we've added the Vax Trax Rails, Transitional Hull Channels and Chisel Tail combo that has work so well on board of ours in the past. Vax Trax Rails have been super popular, particular with those who surf slabby waves or hollow waves regularly.

Vax Trax Rails - What are they?

The Vax Trax Rail is graduated concave on the bottom rail, starting in the mid-section and becoming more prominent towards the tail section of the board. Interestingly enough, Bullet and some of the other Pro's used to take to their rails with foil and a hot spoon to get this effect in the late 90's, but it never made it through to mainstream production until now.

When you break down high-perfomance bodyboarding, speed management is one of the biggest issues. It's normally a bit of a compromise too, more speed = less control or vice versa. The Vax Trax rail has been designed to give you more control without sacrificing any speed, and more speed without sacrificing any control!

Suggested Bodyboard Sizing:

As a general guide, a bodyboard should go to the rider's belly button. Apart from that, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to choosing the correct size board. Generally bigger boards are faster, but not as easy to control, and generally suited to smaller waves and beginners. On the other hand smaller boards are a bit harder to generate speed, however, have greater control and are ideal for bigger waves and more advanced riders.
As a guide, please refer to the table below. If you're a beginner, you are probably best suited to a size in which you fall in the lower end of the weight range. ie. 40kg beginner would be best suited to 38", not 36".
Board Size Weight Range
34" <30kg
38" 35-50kg
40" 45-75kg
42" 65-95kg
44" 80-105kg
